Chewy EDI integration: vendor orders in, fulfillment and margin in Rilk

Chewy order management for vendors — wholesale purchase orders arriving through SPS Commerce, picked, packed, shipped, and costed in the same Rilk inbox as your Amazon and Walmart orders. Connecting directly instead? We'll set that up with you.

Chewy is the pet retailer that turned autoship into a habit: dog food, litter, treats, and supplies arriving on a schedule from Chewy's own fulfillment centers. If you make or distribute pet products, Chewy buys from you as a vendor — a purchase order for cases and pallets bound for a Chewy warehouse, not a single order for one buyer. Those POs arrive through SPS Commerce, and for most vendors that means someone re-keys them into whatever system runs the warehouse. Sell on Chewy with Rilk. Already on SPS Commerce? Your Chewy orders flow in today. Connecting directly instead? We'll set that up with you.

What you can do

  • Chewy purchase orders land in Rilk automatically from the SPS Commerce mailbox you already have — no re-keying, no PDF printouts walking to the warehouse.
  • Pick and pack against the PO at the same station that ships your Amazon and Walmart orders, with every line and quantity in front of your team.
  • Keep one count. The cases a Chewy PO consumes come out of the same on-hand your marketplace listings draw from, so a big wholesale order can't leave you overselling the same SKU on Amazon.
  • Buy parcel labels in the same flow — UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL — for the shipments that go by parcel.
  • See what a Chewy PO actually made you. Cost basis and shipping cost land on every line; post Chewy's remittance on the settlements screen and the margin is real, not estimated.
  • Leave your SPS connection alone. Acknowledgments, ship notices, and invoices keep going back to Chewy through SPS exactly as they do today.

What's supported

  • Live today via SPS Commerce — Chewy purchase orders imported from your SPS mailbox, read-only, so nothing about your existing SPS setup changes.
  • Order intake with full line-item detail — SKU, quantity, cost, ship-to warehouse — into your unified order inbox.
  • SKU matching by the part numbers on the PO; a line Rilk can't match is flagged for mapping, never dropped.
  • One stock pool with Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Shopify, and BackMarket — a Chewy PO draws down the same count those listings sell from.
  • Pick, pack, and parcel labels for UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL in the same shipping workflow.
  • Per-unit cost and profit on every PO line, with Chewy's remittance reconciled on the settlements screen.
  • Direct Chewy connection on request — if you're not on SPS Commerce, or want off it, we set the direct connection up with you.

How the Chewy inventory sync works

  1. Turn on SPS Commerce in Rilk and point it at the mailbox your Chewy purchase orders already land in. Rilk reads that mailbox and never moves, renames, or deletes a file, so the SPS setup you have today keeps working untouched. Ship Chewy's dropship program too? That's a second tick in the same list, and the two stay separate.
  2. A Chewy PO becomes a Chewy order in Rilk within minutes of arriving — a wholesale order for cases bound for a Chewy fulfillment center, each line matched to your SKU by the part number on the PO. A line that doesn't match is flagged for mapping, not lost.
  3. The units on that PO come out of the same on-hand count your Amazon, Walmart, and eBay listings draw from. A 40-case PO for one SKU pulls those listings down in step, so a wholesale order never turns into an oversell somewhere else.
  4. Pack cases to the PO for the Chewy fulfillment center it names. Cartons that go parcel get a UPS, FedEx, USPS, or DHL label bought in Rilk; pallets go out on the freight your Chewy agreement calls for; either way the ship notice and invoice reach Chewy through your SPS connection, exactly as they do today.
  5. Profit reconciles per case, not per quarter. Every line carries its cost basis and shipping; post what Chewy remits on the settlements screen and Chewy inventory management and the true margin on a wholesale PO are one view.

Connecting Chewy

Two paths, and both are honest. Already on SPS Commerce: open Company Settings in Rilk, turn on SPS Commerce, enter the mailbox details SPS gave you, and enable Chewy as a trading partner. The next purchase order Chewy sends shows up in your order inbox. Connecting directly instead: tell us — we'll set the direct connection up with you rather than pointing you at a form.

Warehouse, PO and settlement workflows are on Pro; connections and labels are free on every plan.

Why sell on Chewy with Rilk

Chewy is worth the vendor onboarding because it buys in volume and it buys again — autoship demand is the steadiest reorder curve in pet retail. What eats the margin isn't the selling, it's the handling: a PO printed off a portal, keyed into the warehouse system, picked off a paper list, and reconciled weeks later against a remittance that doesn't quite match. Rilk takes the PO straight from SPS into the same order inbox your team already works, pulls the units from the same count your Amazon listing sells from, and puts the cost and the shipping on every line so the margin on a Chewy PO is visible the day it ships. Chewy becomes another lane of the operation you already run — not a second system with its own login and its own spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions

Does Chewy send orders over EDI?

Yes. Chewy sends its vendor purchase orders as EDI documents through SPS Commerce, and Rilk reads them straight out of the SPS mailbox you already receive them in — no re-keying and no portal to check. Rilk never writes to that mailbox: your acknowledgments, ship notices, and invoices stay on your own SPS connection, exactly as they run today.

Do I need SPS Commerce to connect Chewy to Rilk?

If you already trade with Chewy through SPS Commerce, no extra setup — Rilk reads the purchase orders from that mailbox and they flow in today. If you're not on SPS or would rather connect directly, tell us and we'll set the direct connection up with you.

Does Rilk send acknowledgments, ship notices, or invoices to Chewy?

No. Those keep going back to Chewy through your SPS Commerce connection, exactly as they do now. Rilk only reads the purchase orders; it never writes to the mailbox or sends a document to Chewy on your behalf.

Does Rilk push inventory or listings to Chewy?

No — Chewy isn't a channel you list on; it's a retailer that sends you purchase orders under your vendor agreement. What Rilk does is take the units a Chewy PO consumes out of the same count your Amazon, Walmart, and eBay listings sell from, so those channels stay honest.

What's the difference between Chewy and Chewy Dropship in Rilk?

Chewy purchase orders are wholesale — cases and pallets to a Chewy fulfillment center. Chewy Dropship orders are single shipments to the pet parent's door. Rilk keeps them as separate trading partners so the picker sees which one is on the screen.
